Australia Day 1

I arrived in Sydney, Australia yesterday morning. It took a while for my baggage to come through and I was then randomly chosen for my baggage to be rescanned. There are very strict regulations about customs in Australia so you cannot bring in any food stuffs even chocolate eggs or even carry bottles of water which is of course about fears of terrorism and bomb making!

It is autumn here so it's about 22 degrees and actually wet! It was also wet in Singapore. I was immediately struck by the birds here who seem mostly from the parrot family including white cockatoos. There are different varieties of wagtails, moorhens and coots.  There are tropical trees.
We crossed the Anzac bridge and the Sydney Harbour Bridge from the airport to North Curl Curl. Sydney is urban and the cars drive on the left. The Northern Beeches area is a suburb of Sydney by the beeches.

The house is four bed roomed on one level. Many people rent in Sydney. There's a pool and small grassed area.

I had a nap and then we went out for Sam's Nuture Learning Group looking at the local park, the stream its history and the sources of pollution. At some point loads of rubbish was buried then the area grassed over. This has led to a build up of pollution in the ground and river. However the birds still flock here and seem less susceptible to the pollution.

I was really shattered and went to bed at 9! I slept well almost twelve hours waking just once. I woke to porridge and croissants. My grandson is now practicing his singing, with scales and singing "Consider yourself at home" loudly. He has another audition for Opera Australia next Thursday. He is also working on his expression. My eldest grands on is busy building a mode for Minecraft, the younger ones are happily playing. Sams partner is working on his App in his office but was up early out buying hot cross buns and croissants. It is of course Good Friday! So I'm going to have a shower a cuppa and then check my millions of emails. This is an Astralian Ibis.
